The Death of Queen Elizabeth II
As a learning community, we are united in sorrow for the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She leaves a bright legacy of hope and promise for future generations.
For seventy years, HM The Queen has stood at our side, encouraging and inspiring our young people to learn new skills, help others and shine brightly.
Her sense of duty was an outstanding example to every single one of us.
It will take time for our community and our nation to recover from this loss. Let’s take great solace and comfort in her warm-heartedness towards young people, her devotion to her duty and most of all her kindness. In memory of HM The Queen, let’s show that same sense of kindness and respect to each other. On behalf of every student and all of the staff, we thank HM The Queen for her service. We will never forget her.
To support young people at this time, all learning activities will continue during the national mourning period, with activities chosen to be respectful and meaningful, including short periods of reflection. We will continue to communicate important information to students, parents and staff through social media and email routes during this important period at the start of the academic year.
On Monday 19th September, the state funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II takes place. This day has been declared a national Bank Holiday, and academies across the Trust (including the nursery at Werrington Primary School) will be closed to all students and staff. All academies will re-open as normal on Tuesday 20th September.
On behalf of everyone in the Potteries Educational Trust community, we thank HM The Queen for her service. We will never forget her.
